Fentanyl and COVID-19 May Have Made the Opioid Epidemic Even Deadlier
The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough on us all, and unfortunately, the pandemic has driven a surge in overdose deaths. We all know just how stressful the pandemic has been and unfortunately, according to the CDC, illegally manufactured fentanyl is one of the culprits.
Time magazine recently reported on this and found that often, people consumed the fentanyl unwittingly, reporting that “dealers sometimes mix fentanyl with other drugs, often unbeknownst to the buyers. Indeed, the new data indicate that about 45% of people who died after consuming fentanyl in 2020 also tested positive for another drug, such as cocaine or methamphetamine, compared to about 40% the year before.”
The Opioid epidemic is still with us and unfortunately, it is not going anyway any time soon. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact us, we’re here and ready to help.
